We are seeking professional and dedicated drivers to join the Sunstate Coaches team. Successful candidates will perform a range of driving duties, including charter services, private school runs, and related tasks such as cleaning and yard work. We are looking for individuals who are trustworthy, excellent communicators, and great with kids. You should be able to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out charter services as per the allocated duty sheet.
- Provide friendly and professional service to passengers through exceptional driving skills, knowledge, and attitude.
- Always carry valid licenses and authorities while driving.
- Operate buses in compliance with road laws, relevant legislation, and company policies.
- Manage fatigue in line with NHVL work and rest regulations.
- Report any safety concerns or vehicle defects.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in vehicles by performing detailing and yard work when required.
Other Employment Requirements:
- A current MR QLD driver’s licence (HR preferred).
- A current QLD Driver Authorisation (DA) or the ability to obtain one.
- You must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia.
- A good driving history. Sunstate reserves the right to reject applications based on poor driving records.
- You must not be a prohibited person as defined by the Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998.
- Good customer service skills are essential.
- As per the Transport Operations (Passenger Transport) Act 1994, all drivers must hold a Driver Authorisation (DA). If you do not already possess one, you will be required to obtain it.
Available Positions:
1. School Run & Charter Drivers:
- Conduct private school runs, school charters, and commercial charter work across South East Queensland and Northern NSW.
- Must be flexible to work some overtime as required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ professional coach driving experience.
2. School Run Only Drivers:
- Perform private school runs in the Inner City North and South areas.
- Must be available for split shifts during school days (minimum 3 hours per day, mornings and afternoons).
- 25-30 hours per week during school terms. Additional charter and weekend work may be available for the right candidates.
- Minimum of 2 years’ professional coach driving experience.
Job Details:
- Sunstate Charters operates 7 days a week. Shifts are on a rotating roster, including weekends, evenings/nights, and public holidays.
- Hours per day will vary based on shift allocation.
- Probationary periods apply to all new staff.
Recruitment Process:
The recruitment and selection process consists of four stages:
- Review of completed application
- Driving assessment
- Personal interview
- Work fitness suitability program
Please note that passing each stage does not guarantee selection for the role.
Alcohol & Drugs Policy:
Under Queensland legislation, bus drivers must maintain a zero drug and blood alcohol level while driving, whether in a bus or other company vehicles. Sunstate Coaches conducts random drug and alcohol testing to ensure compliance with this policy.
