KINGSTON / BEENLEIGH HISTORICAL TOUR
Our first stop on today’s tour is the Kingston Butter Factory. The building was originally built in the early 1900s. Today it houses a museum, theatre and arts / craft shop. The shop show cases the local crafts which they are proud to say are the cheapest in the land. Here you will learn the history of the factory from one of the local volunteers, sit back and enjoy a Devonshire Tea and have the opportunity to visit the shop.
Our next stop will be Mayes Cottage; the cottage is one of the original cottages built in the area dating back to 1870. A member of the local historical society will give you a fully guided tour of this cottage and explain its place in the local development.
Lunch today is at the 100 year old Gem Hotel at Alberton, an historical Queenslander style pub. Servings will be either Roast Beef with Vegetable or Crumbed Fish Chips and salad – with a dessert of the day and Tea and Coffee.
After lunch we head to Old Beenleigh Town where you will be treated to a wonderful display of over 20 buildings with historical significance. Once again a tour will be offered or you might just enjoy wondering and exploring the displays by yourself.
