On October 1, 2025, the minimum wage in Ontario will rise by 2.4% (referring to Ontario Consumer Price Index) to $17.60 per hour, which is an adjustment to the current minimum wage of 17.20 an hour. This is applicable to the majority of the employees irrespective of the hours of employment and the type of employment- full time, part time, as casual, hourly, salaried or commissioned.

-Age based minimum wage (under 18, employment not exceeding 28 hours/week): 
Increases from $16.20 to $16.60 per hour.
– Homeworkers (paid work at home):> 
Rises from $18.90 to $19.35 per hour.

Who Benefits?
– Wages will hike on an average of about eight hundred thousand workers but the margin is mostly within the retail (36 percent) and accommodation/food services (23 percent) sectors.
– This new rise keeps Ontario on the second-highest minimum wage in Canadian provinces.
– The increase is in response to cost-of-living adjustments to sustain the workers during inflation.
